Lynn Painter-Stainers Prize 2016

Palin, Tom ORCID logoORCID: (2016) Lynn Painter-Stainers Prize 2016. [Show/Exhibition]

The Lynn Painter-Stainers Prize was created in 2005 by the Worshipful Company of Painter-Stainers and the Lynn Foundation to encourage forms of excellence in creative figurative/representational painting, and also to promote the skill of draftsmanship. The Prize itself is one of the most prestigious awards to artists in the UK. This is an annual exhibition, held at the Mall Galleries, The Mall, London SW1. It has a large submission, and selection is at the discretion of the judging panel. This year’s judges were: Catharine Davison, Ken Howard, James Lloyd, Sam Wadsworth and Andrew Wilton. At the opening of the exhibition the winners were announced and awarded their prizes. First Prize went to Henry Kondracki for Cowgate. One hundred and thirty-nine paintings were selected for exhibition. This year I exhibited two paintings, both oil on oak panel. They were Flower Painting and Remembrance. The paintings were part of a series of five works of the same dimensions (27 x 33 x 2 cm), painted in 2015/2016.
