The discerning eye 2015

Palin, Tom (2015) The discerning eye 2015. [Show/Exhibition]

Abstract

The Discerning Eye annual exhibition is a show of small works. These are independently selected by six prominent figures from different areas of the art world: two artists, two collectors and two critics. The selectors choose both publicly submitted works and works by personally invited artists. Each selector's section is hung separately to give it its own distinctive identity. The impression emerges of six small exhibitions within the whole. This year – the third time I had exhibited here, after inclusion in 2000 and 2001 – I showed three paintings (all oil on poplar). My paintings were selected by the art critic Stephen Doherty and hung together vertically. In addition to Doherty, the judges included: Emma Bridgewater, Nicole Farhi, Larry Lamb, Stephen Snoddy and Steve Pill. The exhibition took place at the Mall Galleries, London.
